  2. Make the Spread: In a small bowl, mix 2 tablespoons softened butter with ½ teaspoon oregano and ¼ teaspoon marjoram.
  3. Prepare the Topping: In another bowl, combine 1 cup grated cheese, ¼ cup mayonnaise, 1 teaspoon prepared mustard, and ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce or ½ teaspoon paprika. Stir until smooth.
  4. Butter the Crackers: Spread the butter mixture on each saltine cracker and arrange them on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake the Crackers: Place in the oven and bake for 3–5 minutes, or until the crackers turn lightly golden brown.
  6. Add Cheese Topping: Remove from oven and immediately top each cracker with the cheese mixture.
  7. Broil the Crackers: Switch the oven to broil. Return the crackers to the oven and broil for 1–2 minutes, watching closely, until the cheese is melted and bubbly with lightly browned edges.
  8. Serve Immediately: These are best eaten hot. Once cooled, the topping may become leathery.
